Rule # 1

• Don't use the root account
  • (except when you need it)
• The root account is the system superuser.
  • The normal account protections can be overridden by the root user.
  • Careless use of the root user account can cause damage to your setup.
• The root user is the only user available when you install your system
  • Your first job is to create a normal user account for everyday use.
