Emacs has a very extensive, on-line help system. The entire printed user manual is available on-line as a hyper-text document. Every command has a description

    C-H C-H     help-for-help  (or C-H ?)
    C-H i       info (hyper-text help system)
    C-H a       command-apropos (can't remember a command?)
    C-H b       describe-bindings
    C-H c       describe-key-briefly
    C-H k       describe-key
    C-H m       describe-mode
    C-H t       help-with-tutorial
    C-H w       where-is

And a very useful command ...

    M-X command-name RET
